A recitative for the soprano. It is a reaction to the Last Supper. The 'tears' (sorrow at the parting) are mixed with joy at the 'testament' (the Communion).

No. 13part_16
Although my heart swims in tears,
because Jesus takes leave of us,
yet his testament makes me glad.
His flesh and blood, o preciousness,
he bequeaths into my hands.
As he, in the world with his own,
cannot mean them evil,
so he loves them unto the end.

Wiewohl mein Herz in Tränen schwimmt,
Although my heart swims in tears,
because Jesus takes leave of us,
yet his testament makes me glad.
His flesh and blood, o preciousness,
he bequeaths into my hands.
As he, in the world with his own,
cannot mean them evil,
so he loves them unto the end.
