Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall, and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers. And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe. And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying:

Da nahmen die Kriegsknechte des Landpflegers Jesum zu sich in das Richthaus und sammelten über ihn die ganze Schar und zogen ihn aus und legten ihm einen Purpurmantel an und flochten eine Dornenkrone und setzten sie auf sein Haupt und ein Rohr in seine rechte Hand und beugeten die Knie vor ihm und spotteten ihn und sprachen:

Modern adaptation
The soldiers put a purple robe on Jesus, place a crown of thorns on his head, and give him a reed as a scepter. They mock him: 'Hail, King of the Jews!' Then they beat him.
